tonight. >> thank you. good morning, everyone. thanks nor joining us. i'm carolyn tyler. six young people are recovering this morning after being shot at a sweet 16 party in antioch. police say about 80 people were at the house party on wilmont lane when it suddenly turned violent around 10:30 last night. police say a fight broke utility -- out in the garage between two groups, quickly escalating into a shootout. one person was taken by helicopter to a walnut creek hospital and underwent surgery -- injury to the leg. others have less serious wounds. the victims age in range from 13 to 21. >> football parties will soon be starting around the bay area, ahead of the championship game. and some are already camped out hoping to be one of the first to tailgate. parking lots open at 11:30. fans from both teams are ready to claim victory. abc7s nick smith went to a local sports bar where the pregame celebration began last night. >> let's go giants! >> let's go giants! >> giants fans have invaded san francisco. and if sheer enthusiasm were enough to secure the nfc championship game, the crowd at a

. good morning, everyone. thanks nor joining us, i'm carolyn tyler. at least six occupy oakland protestors face charges this morning, including vandalism assaulting police officers and possessing explosives after an anti-police march last night. starting around 8:00 they marched from the plaza. they snaked through downtown. they claim they have been harassed at occupy oakland events in recent weeks. some marchers broke patrol windows, vandalized news advance and someone also lit a fire near 8th and washington street. they uncovered an explosive equal to a quarter stick of dynamite. some occupy oakland protestors are condemning the actions of others saying the majority do not condone that violence. and occupy san jose they will march today from city hall to the santa clara county courthouse starting at noon. this event coincides with the court case held 126 years ago known as santa clara county versus southern pacific railroad. this 1886 case stemmed from the railroad's refusal to pay taxes. it was a dispute over ch

violence. but he left the meeting saying he's not going anywhere. carolyn tyler spoke with the sheriff and had his reaction to that conversation. >>reporter: it was d-day for san francisco mayor lee. time for a heart to heart talk with embattled sheriff ross about his future. >> it's an opportunity time for the mayor. i would do this for any elected official or department head. if they are so distracted and i see that happening that i would ask them to consider making a personal position of their own. i don't want to putney more pressure on the sheriff. i think he has enough. >>reporter: but there's no doubt the mayor wants the sheriff to take a leave while he fights charges of domestic abuse. the sheriff says the meeting this afternoon in the mayor's office was cordial. did he ask you to step down. >> no. >>reporter: have you offered to do that? >> no. >>reporter: why do you think you can run the office effectively. >> i already am. i mean i am doing just that. at any time i'm putting in well over 40 hours a week here in the offic office. it's not a straight 8 to 5 job.

with traffic stop nearly 2 miles away. carolyn explains what happened. >> my friend. >>reporter: roberts lost his best friend of more than 20 years today. in a strange and tragic set of circumstances this traffic mess is the end result. roberts says he was behind the wheel early this morning. his friend armed james and 2 other passengers were along for the ride. when he was stopped by annual immediate police officer. >> he said he wasn't we was going past the speedlimit. >>reporter: roberts car was impounded. alameda police say that's because had he a suspended license. it was just before 5 in the morning and this residential neighborhood. 4 people without a car. >> they were given the option of having the police officer call them a cab at their expense of course to go to their destination. they declined the offer. and then the individuals were no longer being detaped by the police department so she were on their way. >> we live far but we had to get to where we need to go so we had to walk. >>reporter: they ended up nearly 2 miles away walking along the edge of doolittle drive. re

for joining us. i'm carolyn tyler. at least six occupy oakland protestors face charges this morning, including vandalism, assaulting police officers and possessing explosives after an anti-police march last night. starting around 8:00 they marched from the plaza. they claim they have been harassed at occupy oakland events in recent weeks. some marchers broke patrol windows, vandalized news advance and someone also lit a fire near 8th and washington street. they uncovered an explosive equal to a quarter stick of dynamite. some occupy oakland protestors are condemning the actions of others saying the majority do not condone that violence. and occupy san jose they will march today from city hall to the santa clara county courthouse starting at noon. this event coincides with the court case held 126 years ago known as santa clara county versus southern pacific railroad. this 1886 case stemmed from the railroad's refusal to pay taxes. it was a dispute over changes to california packs -- tax law. the u.s. supreme court ultimately ruled in favor of the railroad holding corporation are persons when it

. >>> the cable carolyn is back in service -- cable car line is back in service. a problem with the cable forced the line to close down for a few hours. it was fixed just before 9:00 last night. >>> time now 5:08 traffic problems, rain pouring in, sal, what is happening now? >> it is not going to be a great monday so if you leave the house early, it is like asking a lot on a monday to get yourself out the door. but you should this morning if you can or just call ahead and tell them you are running behind taking you longer to get to work. as you drive out to the mcarthur maze, that traffic will be busy and you have heard your reporter saying, almost everywhere you look, some of the pavement has not been. it gets a little bit damp in the rain and this morning's commute is going to be okay on westbound bay bridge so far coming across to san francisco. we have had a lot of fender- benders, 280 southbound looking good and some of the fender benders include standing water, minor accidents on the shoulder, that kind of thing and to give yourself plenty of extra time to get through. let's go to steve.

through the ashes of an essex home, where two women died overnight. 66-year-old carolyn and her 44- year-old daughter stacy died. investigators say the home had battery-powered smoke detectors, but they weren't working. in a strange twist, both women were in a car crash, yesterday on aren cliff road. they were treated and released from franklin square hospital. wjz will have more on this story coming up at 5:00. >>> danger in dundalk. today, a gas leak is detected in an industrial park. four people are here after natural levels of gas are detected. the road is closed from the 8200 block of fisher to beechwood roads. no one has been hurt. >> our recent flurries are nothing compared to what some parts of alaska are dealing with. cordova, alaska, is completely snowed in. as ben tracy reports for wjz, the worst, though, may be yet to come. >> reporter: in cordova, they are quite simply, buried. buried under a record 18 feet of snow. >> good girl. good girl. clean off my car. >> six feet in the past few days. >> a lot of businesses have already started to cave in. >> buildings have collapsed.
